[EN] The present study has the goal to determine areas of prospective interest for metallic mineral deposits, and to contribute with the updating of the Metalogenetic Map of Peru. The San Martín region is located in the northeastern part of the Peruvian territory. After the review zones without denouncements and outside of natural reserves, three zones have been determined of geological interest that covered about 126.20 km2, in which 44 samples were collected for geochemical and petromineralgic studies. Besides the geologists realized a more detailed prospecting work at a scale of 1: 25,000 In this region, Neoproterozoic rocks are distributed in the Eastern Cordillera, called Marañón Complex and be related to the Metalogenic Belt I «Au deposits in meta-sedimentary rocks of the Ordovician and Siluro-Devonian», where only small occurrences have been reported in quartz veinlets. Besides, they are related to the Metalogenic Belt II of «Orogenic deposits of Au-Pb-Zn-Cu with Carboniferous-Permian intrusives». This rocks are overlying for the Lower Paleozoic and Paleozoic. In the Permian. there is a distension (tardihercínic deformation) that originated an alkaline volcanism (Grupo Mitu). Then, in the Andean Cycle, marine transgressions occurred in the Triassic and Jurassic (Pucará Group), followed by marine-continental transitional sedimentations in the lower Cretaceous. In the Eastern party, there are the reaches the more greatest thicknesses (Oriente Group). This be related to the Metalogenic Belt XVI of deposits, type Mississippi Valley (MVT) of Pb-Zn of the Eocene-Miocene, which is also located in the Sub-Andean Belt. Based on the anomalies of geochemical prospecting and the geology in this work, Flor del Mayo occurrence has shown a significant gold value (38 ppb) in the quartz sandstones of the Aguas Calientes Formation; while in Pueblo Nuevo and Nuevo Belén there are values of U (from 3.27 ppm to 6.67 ppm), Cr (from 469 ppm to 606 ppm) and Pb (72 ppm) in the quartz sands of the Cushabatay Formation and in the tuffs with silicified andesitic lavas of the Lavasén Formation, in Nuevo Belén, respectively. None of the areas studied is of prospective mining interest. Based in the Potential Map of San Martín, the total area of high mining potential comprises 7.79% of the total area, that is, 3992.6 km2; therefore, the San Martin Region has a poor metallic mining potential, concentrated mainly in the Eastern Cordillera of the region. However, many of the zones present some metallic mining indications of interest, especially gold plasers.
