2016
Boletín de la Sociedad Geológica del Perú, v.111, 2016, pp. 31-47.
[ENG] Colca fault system presents intense seismic activity and the last earthquake confirms it. This event was the result of Yanque fault reactivation. It was a shallow quake (hypocenter depth 8km) with 5.3 ml magnitude, which generated significant coseismic effects (rockfalls, landslides, sinkholes and others) inside influence area, where it affected roads (highways and roads), agricultural land and housing; an also fatalities. The damage occurred derived from the unconsolidated deposits found throughout the valley where the villages of Ichupampa, Yanque and Achoma are located, and inefficient types of construction used.
