Siguas landslide is one of the most active mass movements in the south of Peru. Originated in 2005 by hydric saturations of incompetent lithological materials as a result of filtrations of Majes Siguas-I Irrigation project. The scarp is 1.4 km long and is located in Pedregal-Arequipa district. The high rate of movement and deformation causing damage to farmlands in the top and toe of the Siguas Valley, at the same time threats to damage the main irrigation canal, currently located 20 meters from the main scarp.
